Learn French through a real friendship
I pair you with a real French friend. So you stop translating and start truly living in French.
You don't become fluent by studying
You become fluent by connecting
Most people approach French the way they approached every other subject at school, by studying rules, memorizing vocabulary, and hoping that one day it will somehow click into natural conversation, but the problem is that language doesn’t live in your head the way knowledge does and it only becomes real when you start using it with someone who genuinely cares whether you understand them or not.
Christopher has an MBA and is one of the most articulate people you’d meet in English, and after years of classes and apps and private tutors, he still says: « I feel like an idiot in French. » Not because he isn’t intelligent, but because intelligence has very little to do with it.
David has been at it for nearly a decade and what he wants, more than anything, is just to be a normal guy having normal conversations, and the reason it hasn’t happened yet isn’t lack of effort, it’s that effort without the right environment doesn’t compound into fluency.
What changes everything isn’t studying harder. It’s having a real French person in your life who you actually want to talk to, and who actually wants to talk to you.
For those who want to sound like themselves in French
Imagine your life 6 months from now...
Six months from now, someone starts speaking French to you and your brain doesn’t go into emergency mode trying to locate vocabulary and assemble grammar in the right order, it just responds, naturally and without the delay that used to make every conversation feel like a performance you weren’t quite prepared for.
You’re at a dinner party and for the first time you’re not hovering at the edge of the conversation waiting for someone to switch to English out of kindness, because you’re already in the middle of it and the words are coming and they’re yours, not a translation of what you wished you could say.
You sound like yourself, in French, which is the thing nobody tells you is actually possible.
That’s not a fantasy built on talent or on years of grammar exercises, it’s what happens when you stop studying French and start living it with someone who actually knows you and actually wants to understand you.
Right now you might be telling yourself you’ll start properly once things settle down a little, once work quiets down or the timing feels right, but the people who get there didn’t wait for the right moment because they understood something that takes most people years to accept: life doesn’t settle down, there will always be something else coming, and the right moment is not a destination you arrive at but a decision you make in spite of everything that’s in the way.
The fastest way to really speak French isn't a course or an app. It's a real friendship with a native speaker who wants to learn English from you.
How?
Pillar 1: Learn how to learn French
Instead of giving you a textbook or just chatting,
I show you how your brain works so you will never take a French class again
I teach you how to create a French environment to ensure French becomes a natural part of your day
We find resources that you care about so you’re having fun and it’s not a chore on your to-do list.
Pillar 2: Make a French Friend
This is what makes LanguageMate unique.
I pair you with a French Native Speaker specifically trained in my method.
You learn how to have « deep conversations »—the kind that build real friendships and professional respect—rather than just practicing grammar drills.
Pillar 3: Make habits stick
You don’t become fluent through willpower. You become fluent through daily habits that don’t feel like work.

Céline Guerreiro
Hi, I’m Céline Guerreiro, the founder of LanguageMate.
I’m a language mentor.
🎯 𝗠𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲: 19+ years in education, trained in Montessori and neuroscience, truly passionate about learning (I’ve been learning English for 5 years and Korean for a few months)
Before 2020, I couldn’t express myself in English, even though I studied English at school.
I felt dumb.
I decided to become fluent in English, but I didn’t want to rely on a teacher and feel like I was 15 again.
My degree in Neuroscience and my background in Montessori education allowed me to create my own method.
And by the way, I’ve been learning English in France without ever living abroad, attending courses or paying for teachers.
In January 2023, I founded LanguageMate, so you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Your French life starts here
Option 1:Lifetime Access $2206 - £1641- One time
For those who need to move fast and can’t afford to wait.
This is the option for people with a real deadline: a move to France coming up, a visa renewal, a residency card to obtain, or a life in France that’s waiting to start. You’ve already bought the house, or you’re about to sign. You don’t have months to figure it out alone. You need someone who guides you, validates your approach, and adjusts in real time, week after week, until your French clicks.
- 10 one-on-one sessions with me: one-hour deep dives to transform your learning habits, create your own roadmap, and learn how to learn. These are the sessions where I validate, week after week, that your method is solid.
- Lifetime Community Access: unlimited, lifelong access to the LanguageMate community, with me as your personal accountability partner for the long run.
- Unlimited practice hours with your language partners to stop feeling self-conscious every time you open your mouth, express your emotions freely, and finally sound like yourself (at least one hour per week on video call and one sentence per day on WhatsApp).
- Premium resource library: access to a carefully curated selection of resources to help you progress in real-world French, not textbook French.
- Accountability partner: you’re never stuck. I’m there with you every day (Monday–Friday) to answer your questions and help you keep strong momentum.
- Weekly group sessions: Five live video meetings each week to apply the method, ask your questions, and learn how to give and receive feedback with your language partner.
Option 2: Monthly Membership : $89 - £65
For those who want to move forward at their own pace, with a real methodology but without immediate urgency.
The method is the same. The community is the same. The resources are the same. The only difference is that you move forward at your own pace, in a group, without one-on-one coaching with me.
This is the option for people who are moving to France — or already living there — and want to build their French steadily, without pressure. Whether you need A2 for your residency permit, B1 for your resident card, or B2 for French nationality, this journey gets you there, one step at a time, with real people by your side.
- 3 months to prepare before you meet your French partner: during these first three months, you learn the method through guided self-learning, how to use the resources, how to work with a podcast, how to structure your daily practice, and how to become a great language partner yourself. Knowing how to give feedback, how to receive it, how to build a real conversation. This is the skill that makes the difference between progressing and plateauing.
- Matching with your language partner at the beginning of month 4: once you’re ready. No random pairings, no « here’s their contact, figure it out. » When your partner arrives, you know exactly what to do to get the most out of the relationship.
- LanguageMate Community: you join a community of serious learners, French and English speakers, going through the same steps as you. You keep your language partner even if you end your subscription; the bond you’ve built stays with you. However, it’s your active membership that allows me to personally vet partners, ensure their commitment, and re-match you if needed. Once you leave the community, I can no longer guarantee new matches or partner follow-up.
- Unlimited conversations with French native speakers (starting from month 4) to finally express your emotions in French, stop doubting every sentence before you say it, and sound like yourself, not a translated version (at least one hour per week on video call and one sentence per day on WhatsApp with each partner).
- Premium resource library: full access to the curated resource library to progress effectively.
- Accountability partner: I answer your questions from Monday to Friday and encourage you to take action to keep your motivation and keep learning month after month.
- Weekly coworking sessions: Five live video meetings each week to apply the method, ask your questions, and learn how to give and receive feedback with your language partner.
Before you subscribe, we'll have a short conversation. LanguageMate is built around real human relationships and I want to make sure you understand how it works before you commit to the preparation journey. Your future language partner is counting on your seriousness as much as you're counting on theirs. If we're not a fit, I'll tell you honestly and point you somewhere that might serve you better.

The "Perfect Match" Guarantee
The Promise:
I personally select your French friend based on your personality, your interests, your goals, and your level. This isn’t a random pairing.
During your first weeks together, I stay close. I’m in the WhatsApp group with you, I watch a recording of one of your video calls, and I make sure the feedback you’re giving each other is genuinely helping you both progress.
If after your first month together you don’t feel the connection is right, I’ll find you a better match.
Cynthia's testimonial
« I highly recommend Céline if you’re looking to improve your fluency in French.
I had studied 5 years of French when I was a student but hadn’t used it in 30 years when I decided I wanted to restart my studies.
The method of teaching foreign language when I was a student was grammar based and focused on memorization but even after years of study I wasn’t fluent.
Céline’s Montessori approach plus her knowledge of neuroscience have proven to be excellent at getting me back on the path towards fluency.
Having Céline to practice speaking and writing with along with the native speaking language partner she pairs you with have been invaluable in improving my French.
Her advice on ways to immerse yourself in the language are also critical to getting back in practice and improving comprehension.
I am so glad I decided to work with her and I’m looking forward to practicing my French the next time I visit. »
Marie's testimonial
I currently have the pleasure of working closely with Céline Guerreiro as her student, and I can confidently say she is an outstanding professional and an excellent teacher.
Céline’s ability to creatively and precisely tackle the complex challenges her students experience in learning a new language is inspiring. She has a remarkable talent for helping American expats speak French fluently using the Montessori teaching method. What’s more, she consistently delivers results that meet and exceed expectations, instilling confidence in her students.
Céline’s dedication to her work is evident in everything she does. She is proactive, continually seeking ways to improve processes and outcomes that directly help her students. Her attention to detail ensures that nothing is overlooked. What truly sets her apart is her collaborative approach and excellent interpersonal skills, which make her a joy to work with and highly respected. Her proactive nature and her use of the Montessori Language Coaching Program will make you feel secure in her hands.
Whether you are learning because you will be positioned in France, have clients there, are planning a retirement there, or simply because you may enjoy traveling to the City of Light or elsewhere in France, I highly recommend Céline Guerreiro for helping you, someone you know or your staff who want to learn or refresh their knowledge of the French language. Her expertise, work ethic, and commitment to her students’ success are commendable.

I feel much more confident speaking in French now.
The daily support and interaction have made a big difference and the continuous support is invaluable.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to become fluent in French?
Most LanguageMate members reach conversational fluency within 6 to 12 months, depending on their starting level and the consistency of their daily practice. The key is daily immersion combined with real conversations with a native French speaker, not more grammar exercises or apps.
What is a language partner, and how is it different from a tutor?
A language partner is a native French speaker who is also learning English. Unlike a tutor, they are not there to teach. They are there to connect. You both have something to gain: you improve your French, they improve their English. The relationship is built on genuine mutual interest, which creates the conditions for real, lasting fluency.
Do I need to live in France to use LanguageMate?
No. I myself became fluent in English without ever leaving France. LanguageMate is designed for people who want to become fluent from wherever they are, by building a French environment at home and practicing online with a real native speaker.
What level of French do I need to join?
You need to be able to hold a basic conversation in French, even with lots of mistakes. The minimum recommended level is A2-B1. Complete beginners are not a good fit for LanguageMate. The method works best when you already have a foundation to build on.
Is LanguageMate a French course?
No. LanguageMate is a language mentoring program, not a course. I don't teach you French in the traditional sense. I teach you how to learn French effectively on your own and with your language partner. The goal is real-world fluency and autonomy, not classroom dependency.
Cross the gap between knowing French and being yourself in French
You’ve read this far because something resonated, whether it was Christopher still feeling like an idiot in French after everything he tried, or David just wanting to have a normal conversation without it feeling like an exam, or maybe it was simply that quiet thought you’ve been carrying around for a while now that says: I don’t want to be in the exact same place with French in five years that I’m in today.
That’s enough. Let’s talk.
Book a free call and we’ll figure out together which option fits where you are right now, and if LanguageMate isn’t the right fit for you, I’ll tell you honestly.
